48 Hours In Byron Bay

We don’t know how long it will be before you can take that trip to Bali that you’ve been planning forever, or that ski week experience in Switzerland. But we do know that there is plenty of top travel adventures that you can do in Australia when the bans are lifted. Starting with our all time favourite the ultimate chill-out town of Byron Bay. If you’re looking for a quick get-away when we can get back in the air then here are Pelikin’s top tips of must-do’s while spending 48 hours in Byron Bay.

Must-Do’s In Byron Bay

48 hours in one town is a tight squeeze to fit in all the activity they have to offer, you may not be able to fit in all our recommendations. But instead, just pick the ones that suit you, so your experience in Byron Bay is the best it can be.

Cape Byron Bay Lighthouse

Perfect for a hot day, why not take a walk or hire a bike to the most Easterly point of Australia- the Cape Byron Bay lighthouse. It’s a pretty steep hike or cycle for those who are brave enough, but it’s well worth the trip to see the views of the big blue for as long as beyond the eyes can see! In some seasons you can even spot whales from the look-out spots. The walk will take you about 45 minutes each way so you’ll be able to fit it in perfectly during your 48 hours in Byron Bay.

Kayak Next To Dolphins

Fancy meeting some of the smiliest and friendliest sea animal out there? Kayak aside a school of dolphins in the sea in Byron Bay. Get taught how to kayak by the professionals and try not to capsize as you paddle out and see some awesome sea life such as turtles and chirpy dolphins. You won’t want to do this on a rainy day so make sure you check the weather forecast before setting off. Book your tour through any local tour, but be careful for tricksters trying to rip you off and make sure you haggle your price! You’ll be out at sea for 3 hours, so you will still have plenty of time to fit in other activities within your 48 hours in Byron Bay. Find out more about the experience here.

Day Trip To Nimbin

If you’re a hippy at heart then you may find a new home in Nimbin. Taking you back to the 60’s you’ll find an array of funky shops, entertaining locals, unique markets, some crazy tasting cooking that may make you feel pretty funky and a lot of wacky backy (funny smelling cigarettes). You can either take a tour that will drive you there and back but this may take up a whole day of your time, so for some more freedom of your experience then take the bus over and back. Check out some of the popular tours to take here.

Go For A Surf

You can’t visit Byron Bay and not experience riding the waves on their awesome beaches. Top surf picks in Byron include; The Wreck, Main Beach, Clarke’s Beach, The Pass, Belongil Beach and Tallows Beach. You can rent boards and wetsuits all around the town, near the main streets or even at hostels. If you’ve never tried surfing before then why not start now and take a surf lesson? You haven’t completed Byron Bay unless you’ve tried to stand on a board. The best surf companies to try out is MOJO surf, they are super helpful an ensure you achieve a wave at least once. Plus the surf school only last half a day meaning you can definitely fit it indoor 48 hours in Byron Bay.

Byron Bay Nightlife

Byron is known for its laidback, hippy lifestyle. Street music and relaxation of the mind and soul. But if you’re looking for a party then Byron can more than provide. They have heaps of cool pubs and clubs for whatever vibe you’re feeling. Here is Pelikin’s top hot-spots for your Byron Bay nightlife.

It’s a great place if you want to witness something like no other, or even if you’re a hippy yourself, you’ll feel right at home.

Across from the Arts Factory Lodge you will see the Byron Bay Brewery, here they serve their own variety of brewed beers so take a Bev, sit in their cool interior and listen to some awesome live music, stand up comedy and open mic night.
