The way we travel has changed a lot over the last few years. There are now more things you need to think about when planning you’re trip.
Your first stop is the government website: https://www.smartraveller.gov.au. They will give you all the information you need to know about your destination, the risks involved as well as entry and exit requirements.
Have your passport and visa ready
Check your passport is up to date and valid for at least 6 months from when you plan your trip to end. Some destinations won’t let you enter if your passport is expiring soon. If you’re travelling to Europe, make sure you understand how Schengen area visa requirements apply to you. And double-check the proof of vaccination requirements as countries have different requirements.
Snacks aka fuel
Your flight is most likely going to be at least 6 hours, depending on where you go. You will get hungry, be ready. 🥪🍬🍩🫘🥐🌭🧁
Hygiene is a big deal
With the souvenir of the pandemic looming over our heads, let’s keep our hygiene standards high. If you don’t like using hand sanitiser, the best substitutes are wet wipes. That will keep your hands clean for a stress-free journey until you can use running water and soap.
Phone, tablet and laptop chargers + adapter
This is the number 1 thing people forget about. If you do need it, save on the crazy airport prices by buying it ahead of your trip.
Padlock
Now a padlock is an interesting item but you never know when you might need it – for your backpack on a crowded bus or street, for your suitcase, for leaving luggage in a locker etc.
Don’t predict the weather – check it!
No matter where you are going, weather forecasts are your holiday’s best friend. If you’re going somewhere notorious for rain, an umbrella won’t always cut it. Check the day before you fly and pack accordingly – add a rain jacket to your wardrobe and save yourself some trip-ruining discomfort.
Save bag space for all your holiday purchases
Whether it’s duty-free goods or holiday gifts, it’s inevitable that you’ll be bringing more back home with you than when you left – so make sure you have room for it!
No matter where you go, there will be so many things to remember. That’s why you should create a list that will help you track everything you want to bring with you. 💯
