When To Visit Indonesia
The high season for visiting Indonesia is from June – to October (dry season). The shoulder season is April, May, November, and December, while the rainy season is November – March. It is however pretty crowded in Bali around Christmas, with a lot of Australians visiting!
Where to go
Tumpak Sewu, Java
Tumpak Sewu is arguably Indonesia’s best waterfall. It isn’t the largest, even in East Java, but is definitely the most impressive.
Hike down to the foot of Tumpak Sewu where you will experience the thundering power of falling water on your body – unforgettable.
Explore the rainbow village of Jodipan, Java
Jodipan might be the world’s most colourful village. This bright, artistic town was once a slum area, but it is now one of the main hotspots on Java Island.
The fate of this small community changed when a group of students from the Muhammadiyah University of Malang proposed a plan to save this neighbourhood and transformed it into a colourful place, filled with creative paintings and murals.
Prambanan and Borobudur Temples, Java
Two UNESCO World Heritage temples are among the best places to visit. The Hindu temple Prambanan labelled the biggest temple complex in Indonesia, is designed in the shape of a Mandala, with varying levels, shapes, and sizes of temples. Both temples were built in the 9th century and both got covered by ash after the eruption of nearby Mount Merapi volcano in the late 10th century.
Mount Bromo, East Java
Not far from Bali, you can plan a quick trip to Mount Bromo to watch the sunrise from the viewpoint, with the clouds beneath you and the sun rising over the top of the volcano.
Known as one of the most active volcanoes in the world and a great place to visit in Indonesia.
Komodo
The Komodo Islands are home to a very interesting inhabitant – the Komodo Dragon! These giant lizards are a must-see when visiting the islands. The wildlife is limitless around the Komodo Islands and taking a boat tour will allow you to swim with Turtles, Manta Rays, and more than 1000 species of fish that live in these waters. If you love scuba diving, this is the place for you!
Discover the Nusa islands (Bali coast)
The Nusa Islands are a trio of popular islands just off the South Coast of Bali, Indonesia. Made up of Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan (the latter two connected by a bridge) they’re all full of adventure!
The Kelingking Beach is undoubtedly Nusa Penida’s iconic and most photographed attraction.
While most people just pop over to the Nusa Islands for a day or two and only visit Penida as a day trip. We recommend you spend at least 3 days visiting the islands. Local people say that the Nusa Islands are the perfect place to see how Bali was like 20 years ago before it became a tourist hotspot. And it’s really true: the Nusa Islands have such a raw beauty that you won’t believe your own eyes!
